Welcome
. . .
to the Kansas Handbell Musicians of America website. Kansas is part of Area
8 of the
Handbell
Musicians of America which
encompasses the states of Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, and
Nebraska.
Handbell Musicians of America is dedicated to advancing the musical art of handbell/hand chime ringing through education, community and communication. Browse our list of Area 8 officers, the handbell job post, area events, and our many useful handbell links.
Hi Everyone,
I would also like to
take the time to introduce myself. I am Cherryl Cox and I am
the new Kansas State Chair for
Handbell
Musicians of America. I am taking over for Kathy Leonard who has finished
her time as State Chair. I am the handbell
director at Calvary United Methodist Church in Wichita. I have
been playing bells for more than 30 years and directing for more
than 20. I was blessed to learn about bells from a wonderful
woman who always encouraged me to try anything I thought possible
with bells and never told me that there are people out there who
think ringing bells is difficult.
I have a goal for this year that I would like your input and help
with. I would like to increase the communication among
handbell choirs in the state of Kansas. I would like to get to
know where choirs are and what choirs need help with. If you
need resources, have ideas for workshops, know of a new school,
church or community bell choir that needs information about
Handbell Musicians of America
please let me know.
I would like to encourage you all to visit the AREA
8 website at
www.areaviii.org
and The
Handbell Musicians of America website at
www.handbellmusicians.org.
If you have any concerts, workshops or other events coming up please
let me know and we can talk about how to get them on the calendar on
the website.
I look forward to meeting you and learning about your choir.
